We’ve run almost every tour on this page ourselves – and on the boat trips we know both options from experience: speedboat and catamaran. Wherever the route allows it, we recommend the catamaran: more space, calmer in the water, and far more comfortable when the sea picks up. We personally vet every operator we work with. And if a tour isn’t fun in rough seas, we tell you before you book, not after.

Pay online by card; cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before departure. If we have to cancel a tour because of weather or rough seas, the choice is yours: full refund or free rebooking. Phuket has two sides: the dry northeast monsoon season from November through April and the green southwest monsoon season from May through October. Both have their fans—you just have to book the right tour at the right time.
November–April (high season): Calm seas, visibility up to 30 meters, sunshine almost every day. Ideal for Phi Phi, Similan, Koh Rok, and Racha. Value for money: high, but book early—small group tours are often booked up weeks in advance starting in mid-December. December–February: Best weather, highest demand. Our tip: Book tours during the week; the islands are much busier on weekends. March–April: Hot, but the sea is as smooth as glass—perfect for diving (King Cruiser, Shark Point). Plus, Songkran in April, Thailand’s water festival. May–October (off-season): The southwest monsoon brings showers—usually short and heavy, rarely lasting all day. Advantage: half as many tourists, hotels up to 30% cheaper. Note: The Similan Islands are closed from May 15 to October 15, as are Koh Rok and Koh Haa. During this time, we recommend Phang Nga (sheltered from the wind even when it rains), rafting & ziplining, Phi Phi on the sheltered east coast, as well as all cultural and temple tours. June–September: The greenest, quietest time of year. National park closures (Similan, Koh Rok/Koh Haa: approx. 15 May – 15 October) should be confirmed officially each year. Updated September 2026.
Maya Bay has been open again since 2022, but it’s no longer the same place you know from the movie “The Beach.” The national park has restored the bay to its natural state and imposed strict regulations: Boats are no longer allowed to enter the bay—they anchor on the back side of Ko Phi Phi Leh, and visitors reach the beach via a wooden walkway. A time-slot system with limited visitor numbers is in place; swimming in the bay is prohibited, and drones and smoking are banned. By the way: The famous Maya Bay is beautiful, but for most guests, the real highlight of the tour is Pileh Lagoon—emerald green, calm, and surrounded on three sides by limestone cliffs.

November to April is the peak season – dry, sunny weather with calm seas, perfect for boat trips, snorkeling and island hopping. May to October is the monsoon season, bringing more rain and occasionally rough seas, but also fewer tourists, lower prices and dramatically green scenery. Most tours run year-round; in cases of unsafe sea conditions, free rebooking or a full refund is offered.
Citizens of most Western countries, including the UK, US, Australia and EU nations, currently enjoy a visa exemption for stays up to 60 days. Since May 2025, all visitors must also complete a free online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arrival. Always check the latest requirements with the Royal Thai Embassy or your government’s foreign travel advisory before you travel.
The most practical options are a shared minibus shuttle (cheapest, around 180–250 THB), a metered taxi (around 700–900 THB to Patong), or a pre-booked private transfer with a fixed price. Travel time to Patong is typically 50–90 minutes depending on traffic. We also arrange airport transfers on request – just mention it when booking.
Phuket is generally safe and welcoming to tourists. As with any destination, standard precautions apply: watch for petty theft in busy areas, ride scooters carefully, and choose reputable providers for tours and activities. Both tours are available year-round; weather-related restrictions may apply during monsoon season.

Helmets are legally mandatory; fines increased significantly in 2025. Riding without the correct licence may void your travel insurance.
