Koh Yao Yai is the larger, flatter island with beaches and villages; Koh Yao Noi is smaller and greener. Between them is Laem Haad, a sandbar that disappears at high tide. This is not a resort-hopping trip or a pure lagoon day, even though some routes pair it with Hong stops.
Want to see the Hong lagoon? Hong is the better choice. Want villages, boats and a slower island pace? Choose Koh Yao. In the Muslim communities, please cover shoulders and knees. Mornings are often quieter than lunchtime.
