The film rock is the postcard, but the day is better when you also paddle a hong, eat in a real fishing village and finish in clear water instead of another viewpoint. That is why we book this James Bond Island and Khai Island tour with guided cave exploring and a dedicated snorkelling stop rather than a sightseeing-only loop.
This combined programme is operated by Seastar Andaman, one of the established Phuket boat operators, and departs from Laem Nga Pier. It pairs the classic Phang Nga Bay sights—Panak Island, James Bond Island and Koh Panyee—with sea canoeing at Hong Island and an afternoon of snorkelling at Khai Island. Tour Itinerary
- 107:00–08:00 AM — Hotel Pickup Air-conditioned minivan from your hotel (earlier from Rawai, Nai Harn, Kamala, airport belt and Cape Panwa). Exact time confirmed after booking.
- 208:30 AM — Check-in at Laem Nga Pier Welcome drink, tea, coffee and snacks; collect mask, snorkel, life jacket and towel; English briefing.
- 309:00 AM — Speedboat into Phang Nga Bay Scenic east-coast crossing past karst towers, fishing traps and mangrove channels.
- 410:00 AM — Panak Island Explore stalactite caves and a hidden lagoon (access depends on the tide).
- 511:00 AM — James Bond Island Visit Khao Phing Kan & Ko Tapu, 20–30 minutes. Stay on marked paths; climbing Ko Tapu is not allowed.
- 612:00 PM — Mangroves, Puddle Rock & Cave Paintings Scenic run with views of the perched boulder and, when conditions allow, ancient cliff paintings.
- 712:30 PM — Buffet Lunch at Panyee Island Thai buffet in the floating village; vegetarian dishes usually available if requested at booking.
- 802:30 PM — Canoeing at Hong Island Paddle among limestone cliffs and mangroves into the inner hong; the guide does the technical paddling in low caves.
- 903:30 PM — Khai Island Snorkeling Snorkel in clear, shallow water, then relax on the beach (beach chairs and extra activities paid on site).
- 1004:30 PM — Return to Pier & Hotel Back at the pier around 17:00, transfer to your hotel 17:30–18:30 depending on traffic.

The five stops – what you actually see
Panak Island – hidden caves and lagoon
Panak is a hollow limestone island. At the right tide you move from open water into cool, dripping chambers and then into a bright inner lagoon. Bring a phone in a dry bag. The Ice Cream Cave stalactite is the photo most people remember from the morning.
James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan & Khao Tapu)
The name travellers use is James Bond Island. The official names are Khao Phing Kan (the island you land on) and Khao Tapu or Ko Tapu (the vertical limestone needle). They sit inside Ao Phang Nga National Park, about 25 km northeast of Phuket. There is no public ferry. A day tour is the normal way to visit.
The stop is short on purpose. The boardwalk and souvenir stalls fill up when several boats arrive together. Take the photo, look at the cliffs, then get back on the water. The bay around the rock is the real spectacle.
Koh Panyee – The Floating Fishing Village
Koh Panyee (also written Ko Panyi) is a sea-gypsy and Thai-Muslim community on stilts, with a school, a mosque and a famous floating football pitch. Lunch is a Thai buffet, not a fine-dining stop. The value is the setting. Dress respectfully if you walk into the village lanes – shoulders covered is enough.
Hong Island – sea canoeing
A hong is a collapsed cave that became a hidden lagoon. At Hong Island you canoe under low rock and into still green water walled by cliffs. This is the quietest hour of the day. You do not need canoeing experience. Tell the guide if you prefer not to duck through the lowest caves.
Khai Island – snorkeling finish
Khai Island (Koh Khai) sits closer to Phuket and has the clear, shallow water that Phang Nga’s muddy-green inner bay does not. This is why the combo works. We had an amazing day exploring Phang Nga Bay! The boat was comfortable, and the guides were friendly and professional. The canoeing at Hong Island was a peaceful and unforgettable experience, and we loved seeing the limestone cliffs up close. Lunch at the floating village was tasty, though we would have liked a bit more time to explore. The visit to James Bond Island was fantastic, but it was quite crowded. Ending the tour at a relaxing beach was the perfect way to unwind. Overall, a must-do tour in Phuket!
