Pickup in an air-conditioned minivan, depending on your Phuket hotel location. Transfer to the private Tub Lamu Pier in Phang Nga. -
08:30 · Welcome & Check-in
Check-in at the private pier, snorkel gear issued, light breakfast with coffee, tea and pastries, plus a short safety briefing. -
09:00 · Speedboat Cruise
Cross the Andaman Sea to the Similan Islands. Around 75–90 minutes, with chances of spotting flying fish and dolphins on the way. -
10:50 · Snorkelling at Islands 5 & 6
First snorkel session over colourful hard-coral gardens with parrotfish, clownfish and, very often, sea turtles. -
11:40 · Free Time on Island 4 (Princess Bay)
White sand, swimming, a short walk or simply sinking your feet into the sand. -

Better than expected for the price
I thought classic = basic, but this was really well run. Pickup 6:00 in Patong on time, minivan comfy. Breakfast at pier, then fast crossing – we even saw dolphins far away!
Small group feeling, about 25 people on our boat, 3 guides in the water with us. They pointed out turtles, moray, huge clams we would’ve missed. Lunch was solid Thai food, plenty of it. Return with watermelon and ice pops. Long day, 5:30am to 6:30pm door-to-door, but that’s Similan. Book it.

So klares Wasser habe ich noch nie gesehen
30 Meter Sicht ist nicht übertrieben, man sieht vom Boot aus die Korallen. Bei Island 9 stand ich einfach nur im Wasser und habe gestaunt – Papageifische, Nemos, riesige Muscheln.
Ablauf super: 5:40 Uhr Abholung in Kata, Bus bequem, Check-in mit Kaffee und Toast. Guides zählen immer durch, achten auf jeden. Mittagessen vegetarisch für mich nach Voranmeldung kein Problem. Sail Rock Aussicht der Wahnsinn, unbedingt hoch, auch wenn es anstrengend ist.
Speedboot wackelt vorne mehr, hinten sitzen ist ruhiger. Sonnenschutz, Kappe und Wasserschuhe mitnehmen!

Fast boat, pristine reefs
Check-in at Tub Lamu private pier was smooth, coffee, tea, pastries and they sorted our fins and masks quickly. Safety briefing was clear.
The speedboat has a toilet on board which helps, and the crew hands out water and soft drinks all day. Islands 5&6: hard corals, parrotfish, clownfish. Island 9 Christmas Point: insane soft corals and huge schools. Viz 20m+ easy.
Lunch spot in the trees on Koh Miang was nice and shady. Sail Rock viewpoint took me 12 mins up, I’m 52 and okay fit. Take proper shoes, not just flip-flops. Highly recommend this operator.

Unbelievable water, great value
We chose the classic speedboat to save a bit vs the catamaran and honestly no regrets. Boat was fast, we were at the islands in about 75 mins. Sit at the back if you don’t like bumps – front is fun but splashy.
First snorkel at Islands 5 & 6 was amazing, we saw 2 big turtles and so many Nemos. Princess Bay is stunning, white sand, quick swim. Lunch on Koh Miang was tasty, chicken, veggies, rice + fruit.
Christmas Point was the best snorkelling of our whole Thailand trip. Sail Rock climb is hot but do it, the view is crazy. Back in Kata around 6pm. For 3,890 incl. park fee and transfer, total bargain.

Wir haben das normale Speedboot genommen statt Katamaran, um zu sparen – keine Sekunde bereut. Boot schnell, ca. 75 Minuten rüber, Toilette an Bord, Crew verteilt ständig Wasser und Cola.
Abholung 6:20 Uhr in Kamala pünktlich, Frühstück am Tub Lamu Pier. Erster Schnorchelstopp Island 5 & 6 gleich mit Schildkröte! Princess Bay Baden, Mittagessen auf Koh Miang im Schatten, lecker und viel.
Christmas Point dann das absolute Highlight, Weichkorallen, riesige Schwärme. Sail Rock Aufstieg in Badeschlappen geht, Turnschuhe besser. Um 18 Uhr zurück. Preis-Leistung top, Nationalparkgebühr schon drin.

Sail Rock + Schildkröten – was will man mehr
Der Tag startet früh (6:00 Uhr in Patong), aber sobald man auf dem Boot ist, passt alles. Überfahrt mit Rückenwind super schnell, oben ohne Dach sitzt man mit Meerblick.
Island 5 & 6: zwei Schildkröten! Princess Bay: weißester Sandstrand unserer Reise. Mittagessen: Pad Thai, Hähnchen, Gemüse, Reis, Obst – einfach, aber frisch. Christmas Point: Farbenrausch. Sail Rock: 15 Minuten schwitzen für das beste Foto des Urlaubs.
Rückfahrt entspannt mit Snacks und kalten Getränken. Organisation von WhatsApp-Anfrage bis Hotel-Rücktransfer perfekt. Absolute Empfehlung, solange Similan von Nov-April offen hat!

Stunning, but choppy ride out
Snorkelling 5/5, boat ride 3/5 on the way there for me. It was windy in March and the speedboat slams a bit at the front. I moved to the back with the guides and it was much better. If you’re sensitive, take a tablet before boarding and definitely choose the back seats.
Once there: wow. Turtles at first stop, Princess Bay like paradise, lunch good with veggie option for me. Christmas Point was my favourite, so colourful. Sail Rock crowded at 2pm but worth the queue for photos. Crew were kind and funny. Would do again, just better prepared.

Turtles everywhere!
Three turtles in one day! Two at Islands 5&6 and another one cruising under us at Christmas Point. I almost cried, it was that cool.
Princess Bay swim was perfect, water bath-warm. Lunch on Koh Miang under the trees, then Sail Rock – yes it’s steep, yes it’s hot, yes do it anyway. Views over Donald Duck Bay are unreal.
Guides spoke good English, always counted heads, felt very safe. My 10-year-old daughter managed all snorkel stops with a life jacket. Speedboat was fast so we had more time at the islands. Perfect last tour before Similans close for rainy season.
