More trail, more scenery: the 1.5-hour route

The extra 30 minutes over the 1-hour tour change the character of the ride: longer off-road sections, more varied terrain, less rushing – and more time to actually take in the surroundings. It is no surprise that this version is the most popular with couples and small groups: a proper off-road experience without blocking the whole day.

The route runs over forest and mud trails through the jungle hillside; a shuttle takes you to the Big Buddha grounds with time to explore, on to a viewpoint with a panoramic sweep over the Andaman Sea, and finishes at the Skywalk. The ride takes place on private terrain – no driving licence is needed; after the briefing and practice loop everyone follows the guide.

The on-site program runs about 9:00–11:00 am or 1:00–3:00 pm, plus the hotel transfer (30–90 min). Pickup is free in Patong, Kata, Karon, Chalong and Rawai. Drivers from 15 years, passengers from 5 years – not suitable for pregnant women or people with back problems or limited mobility.

Good to know: ATVs and buggies are no longer permitted to drive all the way up to the Big Buddha – the ride ends at the foot of Nakkerd Hill and a shuttle takes you to the grounds. Itinerary
  1. Hotel pickup: Air-conditioned minivan, morning 8:00–8:45 am or afternoon 12:00–12:45 pm – free in Patong, Kata, Karon, Chalong & Rawai, surcharge for outer zones.
  2. Safety briefing & registration: Helmet, controls and trail rules – no driving licence required.
  3. Practice loop: A short warm-up round on the training ground.
  4. ATV ride (about 1.5 hrs): Extended off-road trail through varied jungle terrain – ends at the foot of Nakkerd Hill (road up to the Big Buddha closed to ATVs).
  5. Shuttle transfer: Short transfer up to the Big Buddha grounds.
  6. Big Buddha: Outdoor visit with time for photos – the interior is currently inaccessible due to construction work.
  7. Viewpoint stop: Panoramic views over the Andaman Sea on the descent.
  8. Skywalk: Finale on the elevated platform high above the ocean.
  9. Return transfer: Back to your hotel – transfer takes 30–90 min depending on location.
