The art of eight weapons: real fights in the region’s biggest stadium
Muay Thai is Thailand’s national sport – and at the Patong Boxing Stadium on Sainamyen Road you see it in its purest form: experienced fighters in full-contact bouts using the “eight weapons” (fists, elbows, knees, shins). Before every fight the traditional Wai Kru Ram Muay sets the tone – a ritual of respect and focus. Add live music, a loud crowd and an atmosphere no video can carry.
The stadium is the largest and most renowned in southern Thailand, right in the heart of Patong. Choose between a regular seat on the covered stand (฿1,500) and ringside (฿1,800) – with a free Muay Thai T-shirt included. Fights start at 9:00 pm and run until about 11:00 pm, four nights a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The hotel transfer is free from Kata, Karon and Patong; from other zones a private minibus (max. 10 people) costs +฿1,700. Good to know: depending on the fight card, younger fighters may also appear – if you would rather not see that, ask about the program before booking. Not suitable for pregnant women or children under 6.
How your Muay Thai evening runs
- 7:30–8:15 pm – Hotel pickup: Transfer from Kata, Karon or Patong (free); other zones: private minibus +฿1,700.
- 8:30 pm – Arrival at Patong Boxing Stadium: Collect your ticket; ringside guests receive the free Muay Thai T-shirt.
- 8:45 pm – Find your seat: Covered stand (regular) or right at the ring (ringside).
- 9:00 pm – Fights begin: Authentic full-contact Muay Thai with Wai Kru Ram Muay and traditional music.
- About 11:00 pm – Final fight, then return transfer.
- About 11:30 pm – Arrival back at your hotel.
Total duration about 2.5–3 hrs depending on hotel location. Fight nights: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. Transfers take 30–90 min depending on hotel.
